What is WeatherizeDC?
WeatherizeDC, a program of a local non-profit, is working to weatherize 200 homes in DC by March. Weatherizing your home not only saves big on energy bills during these tough times, it reduces your carbon footprint, creates good green jobs, and produces a more comfortable home. Thanks to the energy and excitement in the District, WeatherizeDC has taken the community by storm since its September launch. Green Teams, campus fellows, and excited volunteers have knocked on thousands of doors, hosted innovative home energy meetings, and committed to weatherizing as a community for great change. WeatherizeDC forging solutions for a more sustainable community.

WeatherizeDC's December Push
WeatherizeDC is launching its December Push, to immediately start building the community networks that will reduce the carbon footprint of whole neighborhoods, create good green jobs locally, and turn DC into a model green city.  The December Push has two aspects: The Big Canvass and the Energy Meeting Festival.

(1) The Big Canvass - This Saturday!
On December 5, 2009, WeatherizeDC will be pulling in volunteers from local communities and college campuses to build for the final and most important canvass for weatherization in 2009. We will knock door-to-door to inform homeowners about why weatherization make sense for the environment, the local economy, and their wallets, and to invite them to hear more at a nearby neighborhood event.

Join us and bring that friend you're thinking of who is interested in building a healthier and more sustainable community. Specifics:

As we continue to call on our political leadership to take immediate action on climate change, it's also important that our local communities be part of the solution. We can be smart about our energy use, and we can create good green jobs in the process. There are a number of ways to continue taking immediate action on climate change through the WeatherizeDC campaign.
