DPW Observance of Emancipation Day, April 16, 2010

From the Florida Avenue Listserve: The Department of Public Work (DPW) will observe Emancipation Day (see here and here), Friday, April 16, 2010.  The following services will be suspended: 

All services will resume on Monday, April 19, 2010. 
 
Trash and Recycling Collections will be made on Friday, April 16, from residences where collections are made on Friday.  As always, trash and recycling containers must be placed out for collection no earlier than 6:30pm the night before collection and removed from public space by 8 pm on the day of collection.  

Parking Regulations will be enforced around Nationals Park because a baseball game that evening. 

Ft. Totten Open Friday for Bulk, Recycling Disposal; Open Saturday for Household Hazardous Waste/E-cycling/ Shredding:  The Ft. Totten Transfer Station at 4900 John F. McCormack Road, NE, will be open on Friday from 1pm to 5pm and on Saturday from 8am until 3pm for bulk recycling and disposal.   On Saturday, free compost is available to residents, and residents may bring their unwanted toxic items, such as pesticides, batteries and motor oil.  Electronics, including televisions, computers and cell phones, also will be accepted.  Residents also may bring up to five boxes of personal paper documents and credit cards to be shredded for free.
