More then 450 people attended the June 8, 2010, screening of This Is It. Photo by brian liu/toolboxdc.[From the MHNA listserve] Neighbors: Come on out for the next U Street Movie Series, a free outdoor summer evening event planned by several U Street community groups.  The series will be held in Harrison Field on V Street, NW, between 13th and 14th Streets.

Think Screen on the Green with picnicking, but in a smaller, more intimate setting, and cooler flicks.  There's also always a live DJ before the movies begin. Fojol Bros makes an appearance.  Gates open at 7:00 pm; movies will start at sundown around 8:30.  And free popcorn for the first 100 people!

Our film in June, Michael Jackson’s This Is It, attracted over 450 folks. It was a great scene.  We’ll be showing 3 more great music-related films to pay homage to U Street’s musical past.

Please come to see the films, and please help spread the word by forwarding this announcement  to friends, and by visiting, sharing, and; liking the Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/ustreetmovieseries. If you are twitter-inclined please share the website http://movies.ustreet-dc.org through twitter as well!  You can re-tweet a post from here: https://twitter.com/ustreetdc

While the event is free, it is a fundraiser for Friends of Harrison Recreation Center, an organization that is working towards improving the park.  Donations are accepted at http://movies.ustreet-dc.org .
I hope you can make it out next Tuesday!
