Living City Block , DC is working throughout the Meridian Hill Neighborhood boundaries to help the Neighborhood move towards a more sustainable future. Their initiative is materializing through various projects, one of them being the Community Garden at Dunbar Towers (formerly the Campbell Heights Building at 15th and U Streets NW). The Community Gardens will be constructed on the grounds of the Dunbar Towers Building this July 23rd to create a space for residents and the Community to gather. The Community Garden will also offer senior residents of the Dunbar Towers Building access to green space and fresh flowers and vegetables in what is now an underutilized space. For more information about this project and others visit their website.
The project is being partnered through the Paul Laurence Dunbar Residents Association, DC Greenworks, Jair Lynch Development Partners, and Living City D.C.
Living City Block is hosting a fundraiser to benefit the new Community Garden this Thursday, July 21st from 6-9pm at the new Blackbird Warehouse at 14th and U St., NW. A $10 donation gets you a free drink and a chance to check out the Neighborhoods newest space while supporting your local community!
