Empty lots providing the space for murals are disappearing across many DC locations.  Check out the story behind the Black Family Reunion mural next to the vacant Latino Auto Sales lot on the southeast corner of 14th Street and Florida Avenue NW.  DC-based artist Byron Peck, who spoke at MHNA's October 2008 meeting, painted the mural, with sponsorship from the National Black McDonalds Operators Association, in 1984. The mural will soon vanish with the planned construction of a six-story residential building.  The story originally aired Saturday, January 28, 2012, on WAMU 88.5FM's Metro Connection.
