The next Meridian Hill Neighborhood Association meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Greater Washington Sports Alliance conference room, inside the Solea building, at 2300 14th Street, NW. The entrance is on the northwest corner of 14th Street and Florida Avenue. We meet from 7 until 8:30pm. 

Jacob Kishter, Commander, Metropolitan Police Department Third District and Ironman Finisher, will discuss recent crime at the corner of 14th & W Streets.

The third item on the agenda is a presentation by Cecilia Jones, Volunteer Coordinator for the Community Criminal Justice Accountability Initiative and president of the Northwest Columbia Heights Community Association, about the use of Community Impact Statements in sentencing of offenders after conviction. These statements are prepared by the communities in which the crimes occurred and are submitted by prosecutors to the convicting court so that the impact of the offense on the community is considered during sentencing.
