U Street movies series continues Wednesday, July 25, 2012

The second screening in the U Street Movie Series will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Harrison Recreation Center, on V Street between 13th and 14th Streets, NW.  The movie will be Protocol, released in 1984 and starring Washington, DC, native Goldie Hawn.  

The park opens at 6pm.  Screening begins at dusk, which is at around 8:30pm. 

Screenings are on the fourth Wednesday of the month. 

The Metropolitan Police Department Third District will be giving out popsicles.  

All movies are shown outdoors in a family-friendly environment and are free and open to the public. You may want to bring a blanket to sit on.  Sorry, dogs are not allowed in the park.  

Donations and sponsorships are accepted at movies.ustreet-dc.org and will benefit Friends of Harrison Recreation Center, a nonprofit formed in 2009 that works directly with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation on capital improvements and design changes, and enhancing park management and programming.

Next Meeting: July 17, 2012

Update (July 15, 2012): Valor Development will present on its plans for a new apartment building. The next regularly scheduled monthly Meridian Hill Neighborhood Association meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in the Greater Washington Sport Alliance on the first floor of the Solea building, 2300 14th Street, NW. The entrance is on the northeast corner of 14th & Florida.

U Street summer movie series starts Wednesday, June 27, 2012

Postcard designed by Brian Liu.The U Street Movie Series returns this Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Harrison Recreation Center, on V Street between 13th and 14th Streets, NW. The theme this year is Date Night in DC.  The first movie will be DC Cab (1983), starring Mr. T.  Local businesses Marvin, The Gibson, Patty Boom Boom, and Blackbyrd are providing a DJ before the movie when the doors open, 7:00pm.
