The Mayor's FY2014 Budget Town Hall, Thursday, April 11, 2013

Join Mayor Vincent Gray for the FY2014 Budget Town Hall this Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Columbia Heights Community Center, 1480 Girard Street, NW, at the corner of 15th and Girard Streets, NW, two blocks south of the Columbia Heights metro, at 6:30-8:30pm.

This is an opportunity for residents to learn about the city's Fiscal Year 2014 budget and voice their concerns.

Moshe Zusman Photography Studio, The Solea

The next Meridian Hill Neighborhood Association meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Moshe Zusman Photography Studio, inside the Solea building, at 2300 14th Street, NW. The entrance to the studio is on Florida Avenue. It is next door to our usual meeting location, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance. The meeting will start at 7pm and end at 8:30pm. 

We are pleased to announce that DC Council Member Jim Graham will be joining us. 

Martha Jenkins, Esq., general counsel of the Alcoholic Beverage Regulatory Administration, has graciously agreed to discuss the liquor license renewal process, settlement agreements and recent changes to liquor licensing laws following enactment of the Omnibus Alcoholic Regulation Amendment Act of 2012. We also plan to discuss and vote on what actions to take regarding two liquor licenses up for renewal. Agenda:

  • Diego (formerly LaFonda), 2100 14th Street, NW, located next to Martha's Table childcare center; Hours permitted under current settlement agreement: 2am Sun-Thurs, 3am Fri-Sat, and may serve alcohol and provide entertainment one hour later later on days designated by the ABC Board as Extended Hours; sidewalk cafe hours: midnight, Sun-Thurs, 1am Fri-Sat; sidewalk cafe will be along V Street.

Junior League of Washington Kitchen Tour, Columbia Heights, April 20, 2013

From the Junior League of Washington: Explore some of Columbia Heights' most unique homes during the 2nd Annual JLW Kitchen Tour on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

From noon to 4:00pm, each of the six homes on the tour will feature different local vendors showcasing and teaching their talents. From floral arrangements to wine tasting, you'll learn to how to make big ideas for your home happen in even the smallest of spaces.
